Dear Hank Williams
In Rippling Creek, Louisiana, in 1948, 11-year-old Tate Ellerbee is given the assignment of writing to a pen pal, and she knows exactly who she will choose—rising country star Hank Williams. She, along with her great-aunt and great-uncle, faithfully listen to Hank Williams each Saturday evening, reveling in the way his heartfelt lyrics and soulful voice fill the room. Tate faithfully pens letters to Hank, recounting her family life, the difficulties and tragedies which come her way, and her hopes and dreams for the future. “Artfully told, this middle grade novel pleases on many levels” (SLJ).
